Years of running definately has it’s benefits. And it also has it’s consequences. For example, if you’ve been running for years without stretching as much as you know you should be, you are likely developing muscle imbalances which are causing you to run less efficiently and leaving you more prone to injuries.
Or maybe you have that nagging injury that your scared to do anything about because your scared somebody may tell you that you’ll have to stop running. You know…that injury that is annoying but not quite painful enough to motivate you to see a professional.
The staff here at Stride to Health shares your passion. And our goal is to help you take your love for running to the next level. Here is how we can help you:
- Biomechanical Evaluation: A physical therapist will assess your running biomechanics, strength, flexibility, and body alignment. After identifying any abnormalities, we’ll set you on the right path to correct the issues so you can enhance your running experience. (click here for more info)

- Foot Orthotics: Chances are very high that you have “funky” movements going on at the foot and ankle (most people do!). The abnormal movements at the foot and ankle can effect your knee, hip, and spine making it possible to have a back or neck pain that stems from abnormal foot mechanics. These abnormal movments can be controlled and corrected through the use of foot orthotics which are specific to your foot type and properly designed. Foot orthotics will not only eliminate pain and prevent future injuries, they will also give you a more efficient stride, so that you are running smoother and using less energy. - Heart Rate Target Zone Prescription: A heart rate monitor is a runner’s best friend. It’s more than just how many times your heart is pumping per minute. Monitoring your heart rate gives you the ability to know what kind of fuel you are using: mostly fat, mostly sugar, or a mixture of both. Your goal is to burn more fat than sugar as sugar burning leads to acid production and tissue breakdown. Many fitness professionials use the formula: 65-85% of 220 – Age. This formula is not accurate and doesn’t consider the health of the individual. We’ll determine your 3 target heart zones based on a number of factors. Click here for more info.
- Physical Therapy: Physical therapy will address any aches and pains you may have. The goal of physical therapy is to restore muscle balance, improve joint range of motion, and decrease pain. Physical therapy will get to the root of your problem, not just put a band-aid on the symptoms. Click here to learn more about physical therapy.
